Marcus R. Sanborn’s practice focuses on construction and business litigation, contract drafting, and claims management.

For more than 15 years, Mr. Sanborn has represented numerous owners, general contractors and construction managers, subcontractors, suppliers and design professionals in a wide-range of construction projects and related disputes. These matters include both the prosecution and defense of claims relating to damages for delay, differing site conditions, construction change directives, owner interference, design errors/omissions, and contract interpretation in relation to public and private construction projects throughout the country.

Mr. Sanborn also has substantial experience in business disputes ranging from multi-district product liability class actions to insurance claims relating to property damage, loss of business, and broker liability. Mr. Sanborn has been trial counsel on numerous mutli-million dollar disputes which have proceeded to arbitration or trial, as recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly on numerous occasions.

Marcus has been recognized by SuperLawyers® as a “Top Rated Construction Litigation Attorney”and has excelled when pitted against the largest law firms in the state and nation. At every turn, Marcus has earned the praise and respect of opposing counsel, judges, arbitrators, and, most importantly, our clients.

Education:

Mr. Sanborn graduated from Washington University School of Law in 2002 with High Honors. There, he was a member of the primary journal, Law Quarterly, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Mr. Sanborn was also the recipient of the Honor Scholar Award and the F. Hodge O’Neal Corporate Law Prize.

During school, he clerked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri and was a summer associate with Winston & Strawn, LLP in its Chicago office.

Mr. Sanborn obtained his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University’s James Madison College in 1999 with High Honors, with dual majors in Political Theory and International Relations.
